PARENTAL COACHING
As a mother of two young children, as well as a people manager, I have experienced firsthand the unique challenges of taking time out of work to be a parent, whilst maintaining a professional identity and career.
I believe both are possible and I am passionate about supporting parents taking time out for maternity or parental leave, navigating part-time and flexible working and finding a new narrative for this exciting chapter in their lives.
I advise a programme of coaching sessions to support parents through this transition period. An initial session with the coachee and their organisational sponsor or line manager to discuss coaching objectives, a session prior to going on leave, one during leave and two to three sessions following return to work. I also work closely with HR departments to ensure that coaching is aligned with organisational practices and support available to people considering or taking parental leave, so that the individual can be ensured of having an integrated experience of support.
Some of the common topics covered in maternity/ parental coaching may include:
• Exploring and developing new working practices and routines
• Exploring work-life-family balance (often using a wheel of work and life)
• Developing a new narrative as a parent and/ or a working parent
• Navigating and being effective in part-time or flexible working patterns
• Mentoring support around physical and emotional changes following birth of a child and the implications on working life
• Exploring career development and/ or change opportunities.
If you are looking to commission maternity or transition coaching for your organisation or team, or looking to explore private 1:1 coaching sessions, please contact me to discuss your needs and timeframe.
